At their meeting tomorrow the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee will again consider an application by Antares Property Development Ltd, who want to provide a facility at Coneyhatch to meet the complex needs of children from the surrounding area requiring additional support.
The play and learning centre for children aged 2 – 18-years-old would be operated by OaKley ASN – a charity also aiming to provide resources and help for families, training for professionals and support for local schools.
When first before them, the proposals to stalled at the Area Committee because the Health and Safety Executive, HSE, advised against the plans because of the proximity of and potential risk to users from the Ineos Forties Pipeline.
Councillors deferred their decision and asked that a representative of the HSE attend their meeting to provide more information on these concerns.
The outcome of this application is of significant concern for families of children with complex needs. Unfortunately The Bellman is unable to cover tomorrow’s meeting – but a recording of the discussion will be online in due course on Aberdeenshire Council’s YouTube channel.
The Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee meets tomorrow in the Viewmount Chamber at 9.30am. The meeting is open to the public. The main door to Viewmount may be locked, but a notice on the door advises of a telephone number to call to gain access, which will be provided by a member of staff.
