– from Stonehaven RNLI
The final tally for the Stonehaven RNLI new station building fundraising appeal is in and it’s a big one. Launched back in June 2023 with an initial target of £50,000 the appeal has actually raised £135,167.
Over the last two years the Stonehaven RNLI Fundraising team held a number of events to raise funds for the new station. Their ever popular coffee mornings, fish and chip suppers and hugely successful Gin and Wine tasting evenings. Some of our volunteer crew have also subjected themselves to marathon running and the Beast Race, all in aid of raising funds for the new station.
Added to the support from the community for these events the lifeboat station has also received significant backing from local businesses, schools and local events.
Peter Esson, Stonehaven RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager says: ‘We are incredibly grateful to the Stonehaven community and local businesses for their continued generosity and support. Without their support we couldn’t have gotten the new station build over the line. We would like to say a huge thank you.’
As the new station building nears its completion the volunteer crew and fundraisers are looking forward to moving into their new premises. With a new shop, a first for Stonehaven RNLI, expansive crew and training rooms and integrated boat hall the new station will be a game changer.
To support operations going forward Stonehaven RNLI is actively seeking new volunteers in a variety of roles. To find out more about becoming a shop volunteer, visits team member or fundraiser member email the community manager on E_Hamilton-Peach@rnli.org.uk. If you are interested in getting involved in an operational capacity (shore and boast crew) email the station direct on Stonehaven@rnli.org.uk.
Get involved and help save lives at sea.
