A STONEHAVEN childminder is hosting a fundraising event on Sunday to help pay for wellbeing trips on the land train for the town’s oldest and youngest residents.
The uplifting impact of an hour breezing through the town’s visitor highlights with cheerful toot-toots and happy waves is becoming recognised as a new way to enrich lives.
Julie Lindeman writes:
Stoney Express is owned and operated by a charity, The Stonehaven Town Partnership. To bring the Wee Train home took a dedicated team of volunteers nearly 2 ½ years, but she is home, and she is busy, and she is spreading much happiness along her runs.
We want as many people as possible in our community to benefit from being on the Wee Train.
We are incredibly grateful for the amazing Pamela Boyd Childminding Service for running a fundraiser for the Wee Train.
This fund raiser will raise funds that will pay for groups in our community to benefit from taking a hurl on The Stoney Express.
We have many children’s groups, elderly groups – we have recently seen the joy to dementia patients being on the train has given, and many more who would all enjoy a trip. Funds will also be used to help with the running costs of her, including a wee bit of tlc needed on her whistle!
Please pop in your diaries Sunday 27th July between 1pm-4pm, 12 Carron Den Avenue, AB39 2QL where there will be home bakes, tombola stall, a lucky squares game and more and hopefully a wee appearance by the Stoney Express engine.
If anyone wishes to donate any donations towards the tombola, pop them down to the train at any of the designated stops along the route – Market Square, Caravan Park, Dunnottar Castle and the Harbour by Friday 25th July at the latest.
The whole Stoney Express Team is just totally overwhelmed by this, and we are all looking forward to a trip to the event.
