A VISITOR to Stonehaven wants mobile homes to stop parking at the seafront and says spaces could be created adjacent to the putting greens to give the pavement back to those wishing to enjoy a stroll along the seafront.
Barbara, who is a regular visitor to the town, contacted The Bellman after a walk enjoying the waves turned into a irritating obstacle course, thanks to poor parking.
She said she enountered a motorhome parking with its tow bar and bike rack overhanging the pavement – and sent the above photograph to show exactly what she meant.
”This means it is difficult to get by with a wheelchair or buggy,” she said.
” It’s also dangerous at night to walk by vehicles with bike racks and bikes on the back, overhanging the pavement, I have nearly walked into these in the dark.
”I asked the motorhome pictured to park bonnet to the sea, as they were obscuring the pavement. They did so but then parked frony wheels ON the pavement, and another vehicle came and did the same.”
Barbara is also grumpy that the new parking signs make it clear towed trailers and caravans are permitted to use more than one space.

She said: ”This is anti social given the small number of parking spaces, and ties up bays which should be available for those disabled and limited mobility to sit in cars and see the sea or go for a prom walk, also for those with young children and buggies who wish to avoid traffic – not for caravans and motorhomes to take up several bays.”
And Barbara has a suggestion to make to facilitate the visitors.
She said: ”Parking should be on the opposite side of the road to the sea, and bonnet facing the pavement, away from the sea – ie facing bowling green, so the pavement is not obstructed by bike racks etc.
”The only exception should be for the disabled,” she added.
