Big Month for Stonehaven Parkrun

This month Stonehaven parkrun celebrates not one but two special occasions.

On Saturday September 20th it will be the 400th parkrun to have taken place at the Mineralwell park since it started on September 10th 2016.  So it will not only be a quatercentenary but also the 9th birthday (slightly delayed) will be celebrated on the same day.  As it is a special day there will be cake at the finish line as an incentive to come along.

Parkrun is open to all and is completely free of charge.  The course is 5K (3 laps of Mineralwell park) and you don’t need to run or jog – there is a tail walker each week who will always finish behind the slowest person.  We actively encourage park walkers to come along.  We have lots of regular attendees but also attract parkrunners from across UK and the world.

It would be nice to break our record attendance on that day which was 129 participants on New Years Day 2020.  In the last nine years (with a 17 month gap for Covid) we have had 21,291 completed parkruns with over 4,500 different attendees.

Parkrun takes place every Saturday at 9:30 am starting near the pavilion in the Mineralwell park.  We have a friendly team of volunteers and regulars who will make you welcome.  Whether it is for a long-term fitness goal or just to get out of bed on Saturday morning you will be made welcome.  All you need to do is register at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/. Once registered you will be given a personal barcode which you can printout or save on your phone.  Bring along your barcode along with you to parkrun and your run will be timed and registered.

If you would like more information then you can visit the Stonehaven Parkrun page  https://www.parkrun.org.uk/stonehaven/

See you at the Mineralwell, 9.30 am Saturday morning – don’t forget your barcode!
