STONEHAVEN’S Sea Cadet unit was awarded a prestigious and historic trophy this week, being recognised by the Indefatigable Old Boys Association, IOBA, as the most improved unit in the country.
The cup, bearing a large, enamelled portrait of Lord Horation Nelson, was presented by IOBA chairman Mr Wayne Houston in the presence of the Lord-Lieutenant of Kincardineshire Alastair Macphie.

The Association takes its name from a charity founded in 1864 by a Liverpool shipowner and founder of the Biby Line, John Clint. Its aims were to train sons of sailors, destitute or orphaned boys to become merchant seamen – and first one ship then a second called The TS Indefatigable was used as a school.

The trophy looks resplendent in photographs. Such is its value however, the ‘Inde’ cup was present for the evening only before travelling back south with Mr Houston.
