Stonehaven Men’s Shed has acquired a new CO2 Router and Laser etching facility thanks to an award from the organisers of Stonehaven’s beer festival.
This facility was introduced to encourage members, with computer skills, and not necessarily workshop skills, to get involved in Shed activities. It has proved to be a resounding success as now over 10 of our members are involved daily in either, CNC routing, Laser Etching or 3-D printing.
This new machine will allow us to engrave on glassware (cups, bottles, trophies) and cut and engrave acrylic (signs, awards, puzzles etc).
The CO2 laser will complement our existing diode lasers, expand creative opportunities and provide another valuable machine for training and member skill development.
It is now installed and will allow members of all ages to get involved and create a host of different Scots and local related memorabilia for passing tourists. They will also produce attractive gifts for our Christmas and Easter fayres.
