Hall Hire Chaos – Community Council to Discuss

By bellmannews / December 8, 2025

THE difficulties encountered by groups and individuals trying to hire venues such as the Town Hall and rooms in the community centre was already on the agenda for our Community Council – but the recent spate of angry and frustrated comment on social media, will no doubt give a greater weight to the discussions at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Also on the agenda is an update on SDCC’s investigations into the feasibility of taking over the beach toilets and running them as a community project. The Bellman understands Aberdeenshire Council will put the building up for sale if action is not taken.

A Stonehaven lottery proposal has been put together by member Andy McArdle and will be considered. Would you buy a ticket to help local projects? And the lack of lighting at the Leisure Centre and nearby car park is also up for discussion.

It is a busy time of the year for the Community Council, with the Market Square Christmas tree to help with then the New Year’s Day Nippy Dip to organise. Updates on both these projects will be presented.

Stonehaven and District Community Council meet in the court room of the Sheriff Court Building on Tuesday December 9 at 7pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend and will be given the opportunity to speak if they wish. You can also attend online using Zoom – the link is a the bottom of the page.
