Extra Meeting for Over-loaded Community Council

MEMBERS of Stonehaven and District Community Council will gather for their second meeting of this month – their current workload being more than can sensibly dealt with in one sitting.

Chair Rachel Frame stated: ”We are currently at capacity with what we are able to fit into one meeting – particularly with lengthy discussion around the Ury Estate and Stonehaven Library update.

”To help ease the load, we have moved the some of the agenda items to this additional public meeting on Thursday 19 February to discuss these projects in more detail. We appreciate that it is an extra meeting, but this should hopefully allow us to get back on track and be more proactive, rather than reactive.”

Supermarket Sweep /It Could Be You

A consultation on Tesco’s further bid to bring their superstore to Stonehaven is up for discussion – as are proposals for a local lottery. Andy McArdle hopes projects and good causes could be boosted by residents and visitors supporting the venture.

Flood Risk Consultation

Brian Menzies has flagged SEPA’s ongoing online consultation looking at areas vulnerable to flooding – such as Stonehaven.

According to Audit Scotland, there is, ‘great uncertainty for the funding of future flooding schemes‘ from the Scottish Government. Instead, adaptation measures are now the way forward – as described in The Scottish National Adaptation Plan published in 2024.

SEPA’s consultation gives residents an opportunity to indicate their preferred approach.

Meeting open to public

As usual the meeting in the court room for the former Sheriff Court Building is open to the public – or you can use the link below the agenda to join online.
