Consultation Event – Could Wind Farm Make Landfall at Cowie?

By bellmannews / March 1, 2026

THE developers behind the Bellrock Wind Farm are hosting a public consultation in Stonehaven on Wednesday, March 4 from 1 – 8pm at the Community Education Centre on Bath Street.

Nadara’s Bellrock Project was one of the successful bids in the Scot Wind Leasing Round. The wind farm will be located 120 km east of Stonehaven, and with up to 120 turbines, could supply up to 1.8 GW of renewable electricity – the equivalent of powering over 1.7 million homes.

The electricity generated is to connect to the National Electricity Transmission System (national grid) at the proposed Hurlie Substation in Fetteresso Forest.

Possible Landfall at Cowie

While the development team are flagging the coastline from Cowie to St Cyrus as a landfall selection zone, The Bellman understands landowners close to Stonehaven have already been approached and Cowie looks to be in Nadara’s sights for their offshore-onshore cable connection.

Hoepfully some clarity on this will be providied at the consultation event, which Nadara say will provide an opportunity to discuss the site selection process for the Bellrock onshore substation, landfall and the underground onshore and offshore export cable corridors.

The consultation events will be an opportunity for local stakeholders and communities to meet the development team to find out more about the project and provide feedback which could help shape and inform the project going forward.

A virtual consultation room will also be available online between Tuesday 3 March and Thursday 5 March 2026 (inclusive) and can be accessed at www.bellrockwind.co.uk
