As Stonehaven Golf Club steps into the 2026/2027 season, Club Captain Chris Taylor says there’s a real sense of momentum around the place. Major projects are reaching completion, new initiatives are taking shape, and there’s a real sense of promise and energy around the club. This is going to be a season defined by progress — on the course, in the clubhouse, and across the wider community.
The New 13th: Ready at Last
After a few years of dedicated planning and development, a major milestone has now been achieved with the opening of the club’s brand‑new signature 13th hole, “Look Out!”. Chris confirmed that the hole will open for play on Saturday 4th April, with an official opening ceremony planned for Sunday 31st May.
The project represents a significant step forward in how the course will play in the years ahead. The club extends its thanks to course architect Brian Noble, the dedicated Greens team, and the many club member volunteers whose hard work and enthusiasm have brought this ambitious development to life. “Look Out!” promises to become a standout feature of the Stonehaven experience.
Investing in the Future: A New Era for Young Golfers
The season also marks a fresh chapter for the Junior Section, an area the club sees as central to its future. Chris confirmed that club members Liam Manderson and Peter Mackintosh have stepped forward to lead the programme, building confidently on more than a decade of steady development.
At the heart of this new era is a dedicated junior pathway, “Learning to Play”, designed to help young golfers take their first steps on the course safely, respectfully and with growing confidence. It’s a modern, structured approach that reflects the club’s commitment to nurturing local talent and opening the game to more families in the community.
The club has long believed that golf thrives when the community thrives, and this renewed focus on juniors is a clear investment in the future of both. With Liam and Peter at the helm, the Junior Section is set for an exciting new chapter.
A Different Game of Sticks and Balls: Snooker Thrives at Stonehaven Golf Club
Stonehaven Golf Club also guards a rare treasure: the last remaining full‑size snooker table in Stonehaven. Thanks to the commitment of the club’s regular players, that treasure has just been restored to a truly exceptional standard.
The players offered to donate towards a full refurbishment, and the club was delighted to back the project. Aberdeen Pool and Snooker Services carried out the work, and the transformation is outstanding. The table now plays beautifully and is widely regarded as the best in Aberdeenshire — easily matching, if not surpassing, anything in the Aberdeen clubs.
The upgrade arrives at the perfect moment. The newly formed snooker league now has a genuine competition‑class table, and regular player Jake Copland captured the mood: “This is just incredible — the league can only flourish from here.”

Bringing It All Together
What ties all of this together is the same thing that has always defined Stonehaven Golf Club: its people. Everyone involved with the club is playing their part in shaping a club that continues to grow with confidence. With so much happening on and off the course, the 2026/2027 season is already shaping up to be a year the whole club can share in and celebrate.
