Children, staff and parents from Babes in the Wood Nursery took part in a sponsored walk around Stonehaven last Saturday afternoon in aid of Home-Start South Aberdeenshire.

Accompanied by a very friendly bear, the group set off from the nursery at 3.30pm and enjoyed a sunny walk through the town, passing beneath the blossom trees lining Slug Road.
The event attracted warm reactions from passers-by, many of whom stopped to wave and cheer on the children as they made their way around the neighbourhood.
One parent described the afternoon as “a great way to get together and raise money for a great cause,” while another called it “a cracking day out.”
The walk finished back at the nursery at around 4pm, where families and staff gathered for a Teddy Bears’ Picnic to celebrate the children’s efforts.

Home-Start South Aberdeenshire is a voluntary organisation that supports families with at least one child under the age of five, offering practical and emotional support during challenging times.
A spokesperson for the charity said they were “incredibly grateful to Babes in the Wood for organising the sponsored walk,” adding that community fundraising events like this make a real difference in allowing them to continue to support families who are facing challenging circumstances across South Aberdeenshire.
The nursery expressed its thanks to everyone who took part or supported the event, noting that it was a meaningful and important way to engage children in helping others while strengthening community connections.
Funds raised from the event will help Home-Start provide vital early intervention support, reduce isolation and improve outcomes for children and parents across South Aberdeenshire.
