Ury Estate and Library

By Jane Cruickshank / February 9, 2026

SO lengthy is the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of Stonehaven and District Community Council that some topics have been deferred to a second special meeting later in the month – but with today’s announcement of Aldi and Marks and Spencer’s supermarket intentions for Ury, and the Council’s proposals to move the library to Viewmount – there is more than enough remaining to ensure an interesting meeting.

Discussions around the table will also include the proposed bus parking at Baird Park and the latest updates on the plethora of electrical generation and transmission infrastructure proposals circling Stonehaven.

Come along and have your say

The meeting in the court room of the former Sheriff Court Building at 7pm is open to the public – or can be joined online using the link below the agenda.

As previously reported in The Bellman, Mr Tim Stephen our area manager for Aberdeenshire Council is expected to attend to give insight into the proposals to relocate the library to Viewmount.

And, with supermarket news announced today, it can be assumed Mr Jonathan Milne will also be inattendance to describe how the estate’s masterplan is perhaps finally becoming a reality.
